Our little girl is now 14 months. She will actually be turning 15 months on December 26. I am amazed constantly at how much she has grown and developed during the past few months. To say I love her is an understatement, I never thought I was capable of loving someone so much. She gives me kisses and hugs. When I tell her "I love you" she responds by blowing a kiss at me.
She started walking a few weeks ago also... now we cannot stop her from wanting to walk. She just takes off if we let her! Sapphire our kitty has taken a liking to Angelina. It must be because she can now walk. I caught him the other day running towards her and gently hitting her on the foot with his paw and then running away. He comes up to her and rubs his whole body around her, she gets tired of so much attention at times and will actually push him away but he always comes back for more. Sapphire is a tuxedo cat and my understanding is that they have the best temperament towards children. He has never swiped or hissed at her.
There have been many changes in our lives since I last posted something in our blog. Daycare was too expensive and I had to make a tough decision and take her out. We were paying as much as we pay for rent so it was just too difficult. Another issue that came up for me was that my job at the church turned out to be something that I was not enjoying at all. I wanted to be the most time possible with my little girl and it was starting to impact my focus and efficiency. I applied to a job as an over the phone interpreter and got hired. I now work from home with the added benefit that I have my little girl with me. I do have a babysitter that helps with her but I get to be with her a lot more than before.
Angelina has now started to use a lot of words, I wonder if it has to do with the fact that we are home now. She uses a lot of sign language (more, eat, hungry, milk) and she's also learning to say these words. She now says "kitty, hi daddy, mama, hi kitty, bye bye, milk and "what?""
Yesterday on the way back home from running an errand, I had given Angelina some milk, she was sitting in her car seat and I turned back to check on her. She had this huge grin on her face, she had been spilling her milk all over her seat. I called her "Angelina!" and her reply "what?" with her two little hands in the air, as if saying "what's the big deal?"
I can't wait to see what's in store for me in the next few months with her growing, learning, speaking and doing so many new things. Life is magical when there's a child in it :)

Trying to keep up... it's challenging!
A lot has happened since I last posted something about AJ. She's now 1 year old and is the sweetest, most loving and curious child.
We celebrated her birthday on Saturday, August 30th. About 20 of our friends showed up, I was amazed because it was a holiday weekend and I never thought that all of them would show up. We had requested to get gift certificates from Target and were thrilled that we were able to buy the stroller that we really wanted with those, it's a bycicle stroller that also works as a jogging stroller.
She started daycare on September 2, (Tuesday), I found a great Montessori school close to where I work and she's loving it. I'm thankful for the care that the teachers are giving her and I'm starting to see the benefits of her being able to make new friends and socialize with children her own age and some of them who are older than she is.
On Tuesday when I dropped her off, there was a little red-head boy sitting next to her eating breakfast. I said bye AJ and blew her a kiss, she looked at me and waved bye, bye. She's never had that separation anxiety that other children go through, I think it's one of the benefits of having her at work with me, she's used to other people and since I've had the babysitters from the church watch her on occasion, she's very used to me not being around for a few hours. The little boy sitting next to her, also waved bye, bye at me and blew me a kiss, which was completely adorable.
Wednesday, September 3, we got home at our new schedule. She pointed at Nena and clearly said "Cat", in his excitement, Joseph started to go around the house pointing at Sabrina and Sapphire and saying "cat" but she refused to say it again, she just kept looking at him and smiling.
Thursday, September 4, I came to pick her up. I didn't see her in her classroom so I was a little confused as to where she could be. I found her in the indoor playground that they have. She was with her teachers, sitting on the ground, playing a little musical instrument. When I told her "hi honey", she started giving me the sign to come and sit next to her (I've been teaching her sign-language). I was thrilled to see that she didn't want to leave, she wanted me to go play with her.
It's been challenging to keep up with everything, work, school and parenting. But I'm trying to make it a point to write everyday or at least once a week :)

8 months and counting!
What a journey! She's now 8 months and growing like a weed. She truly is my joy and I can't imagine my life without her. I remember someone once told me, your life will never be the same and they were right, it hasn't been. It's richer, happier, fuller and amazing. I'm always grateful at how wonderful this baby is and how much love and attention she gets.
We went to a flamenco show on Sunday and she was jumping up and down with the music and putting her little arms up in the air and moving her hands as if imitating the dancers, everytime the women yelled "ole" she would also let out a little scream... it was absolutely adorable and she really had a blast :)
She's now eating solid foods... although I can't tell what her favorite food is, she has liked everything I give her so that's a really good sign... she's certainly not a picky eater.

AJ is now 6 months!

Well, a lot has happened since my last post. I am now working full time with the advantage that since I work at a church, my baby is welcome until I find and make other arrangements for her care.
I love being a mom and I was looking forward to staying home with my baby, but unfortunately due to unexpected circumstances, I will have to work full time for the time being. If I focus on this too much, I get really sad and heartbroken... so I'm trying to look on the bright side of things... it's only temporarily until our situation changes and I get to work for a wonderful church and have her there with me for another month.
That being said, I just have to be patient. Now on to happier things to talk about, here is where AJ is today:
At 6 months she is finally starting to roll over, wanting to crawl and babbles a lot... particularly when I'm not feeding her fast enough! She hugs, kisses, and slobbers all over her daddy and I and smiles at everybody. She's such a happy baby and I love seeing her in the morning... she wakes up with a huge smile on her face. She has discovered that whenever she drops things, people run to pick them up for her, so of course it's her new game... "let's see how fast people pick it up!". She's adorable and such an amazing baby! I never thought I was capable of loving someone SO much!!
I love being her mom, it's truly a blessing! :)

Look, I have hands!
Angelina is 4 months 1 week old now. She's truly amazing. she has been looking at her hands for quite some time now, but it seems like lately she has been finally able to gain control on her hands. She now can grab things, loves touching my face when I feed her and, pulling my hair seems to be her favorite thing to do :0)
When Angelina was born, we were worried about our kitties, we didn't know how they'd react to this little baby. We thought that Nina would be extremely jealous, to our surprise, other than being a little startled from not knowing what Angelina was, they didn't really react much to her presence (I remember Sabrina staring at the baby while she was sleeping, all of a sudden Angelina stretched and poor Sabrina fled like her life was in danger! It was really funny), anyhow the cats love her. Now that Angelina is into reaching out and touching things, she is starting to touch the cats, feel their fur and even pull on Nena a little bit the other day. Nena just lay there and didn't even react. Of course, we're still extremely careful and keep an eye on the cats, you can never be too cautious.
One thing that she likes to do a lot is that I let her hold on to my fingers and I hold her hands while doing this... I tell her "up baby, up" and she will attempt to sit up, so I assist her by pulling her up as she does this. She really likes it. I don't know when she'll be rolling over but she's getting there and I am now keeping an extra eye on her so she won't roll off the bed, couch, etc.
It amazes me to see how strong she is getting and how much she changes from one week to another. It really is very, very cool!!
