Giggles and more giggles
So AJ now does this really cute thing... she squirms and lets out a little scream and giggles. She wrinkles her nose when she smiles, she's always done that and when my mom was visiting, she told me that I do that.
We went out last night to a local shopping center, The Grove. It's always been my favorite shopping center or "mall" it's an outdoor mall. Last night Santa was there and they had several snow machines on the roof of the mall so we got "snowed on", it was a nice touch. It was a bit chilly so AJ was all bundled up, I kept checking her hands and face to make sure she wasn't too cold but she wasn't, as a matter of fact, her hands were pretty warm. I wanted to take pictures of her at the beautiful tree that they had (a 110 ft. fir), but, unfortunately she fell asleep and didn't wake up until we were ready to go home. I thought for a moment about having her take a picture with Santa but the line was huge, it was cold and the whole Santa idea doesn't quite sound romantic to me :) I think we lose the meaning of Christmas by having kids believe in Santa.
AJ ahora hace cosas que me parecen muy lindas una de ellas es que pega un gritito y se ríe a carcajadas. Arruga la naricita cuando se ríe, siempre ha hecho eso, cuando mi mamá vino de visita me dijo que yo hago eso también.
Anoche salimos a un centro comercial llamado "The Grove". Este lugar siempre ha sido mi centro comercial favorito porque es al aire libre. Anoche Santa Claus estaba alli, y pusieron unas máquinas que producen nieve, un toque muy bonito. AJ se fue totalmente cubierta porque había mucho frío, a cada rato se me dió por chequearla para ver si estaba lo suficientemente tapada, pero si, sus manitas siempre estuvieron calientitas. Quise tomarle fotos pero pude porque en cuanto llegamos se durmió y no se despertó hasta que ibamos de salida. Por un momento consideré tomarle fotos con Santa pero la verdad es que la idea de Santa Claus no me parece muy buena, en parte porque enseñarle a los niños a creer en Santa se pierde totalmente lo que uno celebra ese dia (el nacimiento de Cristo).

What a weekend!
Joseph has taken the initiative to watch the baby on weekends. So starting Friday night to Sunday, he gives me a break so I can sleep in, go out with friends, etc.
I don't know exactly what happened but on Saturday night, Angelina woke up 3 times which is weird because she now sleeps through the night. It's as if she knew that it was Joseph's turn to get up and take care of her. Anyhow, he survived to say the least and I, got a good night's sleep.
On Sunday in between loads of laundry, I put up our Christmas tree. Joseph and I had bought new ornaments last year, they are all red and very pretty so our tree looks really great. It was so cool to see her expression when she saw the lights on the tree. She loves lights and music.
One of my best friends, Lucie gave her a "gym" by Fisher Price which has this really cool star with music that plays whenever you move the bars on the gym.
I always place her on the pad of the little gym and she looks up and giggles and talks to the star as it's playing songs. It's really cool because it lights up with the melodies. It's really great, I usually have her play with the gym while I work. I've been pretty busy lately translating and it's great to be able to watch her and work at the same time.
Well, that's it for now.

Joseph se ha tomado la iniciativa de cuidar a la bebé los fines de semana para que yo pueda descansar o salir con mis amigas.
Este sábado fue bien interesante porque por algun motivo el domingo en la madrugada la bebé decidió no dormir, y se despertó tres veces, lo cual es poco común para ella, pues siempre se duerme toda la noche.
El domingo decidí instalar nuestro arbolito de Navidad, mientras lavaba ropa en la lavadora del edificio donde vivimos. Me moría por ver la reacción de la bebé cuando viera el arbolito.
Una amiga mia, Lucie, le regaló a la bebé un juguete de Fisher Price que se llama "gimnasio" que tiene una estrella con música que se alumbra con la melodía. Este es el juguete favorito de AJ, le fascina ver la estrellita, y le habla y se rie con ella. A mi me ayuda mucho tener este juguete porque me deja trabajar en mis traducciones y al mismo tiempo la puedo cuidar.
Bueno, eso es todo por el momento.

AJ is now three months!
Wow! Time sure flies. Our daughter is now 3 months old. I remember when I first brought her from the hospital, boy was I tired. I'm thankful that my husband was here to help me and tell me that everything was OK.
Those days are long gone, and here I am now, three months later, enjoying motherhood to its fullest, watching her grow like a weed! Enjoying every moment of motherhood and just loving her, holding her, playing with her gives me such joy and satisfaction.
AJ and I went to visit my friend Adele and her daughter yesterday. My friend's daughter is now 8 1/2 months old and she is a cutie! It was so cool to see AJ and Eva interact, AJ had a huge smile on her face and I think she could recognize that this was a little person like her (except a lot bigger!), anyhow, Eva kept wanting to interact with AJ and of course at 8 1/2 months, babies are not gentle and don't know their own strength... anyhow it went really well. Adele I have to say is a great mom. We went for a walk to a nearby park afterwards and had a really nice time. We will definitely do that again.
AJ has been learning new things on a daily basis. AJ's new thing is now whenever she wants me to pick her up, she will curl up as if trying to help me pick her up (it looks kind of like a crunch...). It's very cute. She smiles constantly, coos and is now learning to giggle... yesterday when her daddy tickled her, she let out a little scream and giggled at the same time. Like all babies, she is sweet beyond measure and I am madly in love with her (can you tell?)
She's my angel, what can I say? I never thought possible to love someone so much, your parents might tell you how much they love you but it's not easy to understand how much they really love you until you experience it on your own (thanks mom and dad).
Huy cómo pasa el tiempo! Nuestra hija tiene 3 meses, me recuerdo de la primera noche que la traje del hospital, se despertó cada 40 minutes (ouch), me acuerdo de lo cansada que me sentía, gracias a Dios Joseph estuvo aquí para ayudarme y tranquilizarme (porque la verdad es que si se asusta uno).
Pareciera ser que eso fue hace mucho tiempo... la verdad es que en solo tres meses, ella ha crecido muchísimo. Estoy disfrutando tanto el ser mamá, nunca pensé que me iba a encantar tanto abrazarla, darle besitos, jugar con ella y observar las cosas nuevas y gracias nuevas que hace la verdad me da una satisfacción muy grande.
Angelina y yo fuimos ayer a visitar a mi amiga Adele, la hija de mi amiga tiene 8 meses y medio, se llama Eva y es una lindura. Fue tan lindo ver a Angelina y a Eva relacionarse la una con la otra, hubieran visto la tremenda sonrisa de Angelina! Me imagino que ella ha de haber pensado que Eva era casi de su tamaño (aunque por la diferencia de meses Eva es mucho mas grande). Eva se moría por jugar con ella y le quería tocar la carita, su mamá por supuesto no la dejó, a esa edad la verdad los bebés todavia no reconocen su fuerza. En fin, disfrutamos mucho la visita, después nos fuimos al parque a caminar con las nenas... me hacía tanta falta pasar un tiempo así con mi amiga, asi que definitivamente lo vamos a volver a hacer.
Es increible lo que aprende a diario esta niña... esta semana empezó a doblar su cuerpecito cuando quiere que la cargue, pareciera como que quiere ayudarme a levantarla. Se sonríe constantemente y platica y hace una cantidad de ruidos bien lindos... ayer cuando su papá le hizo cosquillas gritó y se empezó a carcajear... eso es nuevo. Como todo bebé ella es bien dulcita y la verdad es que estoy enamoradísima de ella (como podrán ver).
Lo que mas me ha impresionado de mí misma con esto de ser mamá es lo mucho que la amo. Es increible pero nunca me imaginé cuanto ama uno a un hijo... los padres de uno te dirán muchas veces cuanto te aman, etc. pero hasta que no lo experimenta uno en carne propia, es muy difícil comprenderlo (Gracias mami y papi!).

The purpose of this blog
I had a baby girl on August of 2007, she is now 3 months old and growing rapidly.
A couple of weeks ago, I visited my old company and talked to my boss. The purpose of my visit was to let him know that I would not be returning to work as I am now staying at home and enjoying motherhood after being part of the rat race for over 20 years... well, it's time to dedicate my life to a little one who I adore. :)
My boss I have to say is probably the best boss I've ever had, he was very understanding about my desire to stay home with AJ. He actually suggested that I keep a journal for her, which I think is a great idea, that way I can keep track of all the wonderful new things that she does on a daily basis (hopefully!) and maybe my friends and family can log in and read about all those little cute things that babies do. Both my husband's family and my family live far away so, it'll be a great way for them to check on her!
So, that's the purpose of this blog and I am writing it in Spanish and English so all of you can enjoy it.
Como ustedes ya saben, tuve a una bebé hace 3 meses, es decir el 26 de agosto.
Hace algunas semanas fui a visitar a mis compañeros de trabajo y a mi jefe con el propósito de informarles que yo ya no iba a regresar a trabajar, ya que quiero quedarme a cuidar a esta niña a la que amo tanto.
Mi jefe (o ex-jefe mejor dicho), es muy comprensivo y me sugirió que llevara un diario para Angelina (la llamamos AJ en inglés). Me gustó mucho la idea del diario porque asi lo puedo compartir con mis familiares y amigos, ya que tanto la familia de Joseph como la mia viven lejos y qué mejor manera de mantenerse al tanto de la nena :).
Como algunos de ustedes viven en Guate y otros viven en otras partes de Norte América, decidí escribir este "blog" en inglés y español.
Espero que disfruten este pequeño blog... también voy a incluir fotos y videos de la bebé asi que mantenganse al tanto.
